Nitrox/Enriched Air Course
At Barrier Reef Dive Center our Enriched Air/Nitrox is a 1-day course. It is designed to qualify certified divers to use Nitrox for no stop recreational diving. Nitrox is popular and is widely available in many popular dive destinations. This 1-day course starts with a classroom session in the morning and then practical session in the afternoon.

Nitrox/Enriched Air Course Prerequisites

Prerequisites:

A. Age
  1. Open Water Diver or Junior Open Water Diver or current enrollment in one of those courses.
  2. Age: Be a minimum age of eighteen (18) or be a minimum age of ten (10) with parental consent.
B. Certification
The student shall have graduated from a minimum of an internationally recognized Open Water course.

C. Prior Dive Experience
No dives other than those required for Open Water certification are required for entry into the PSAI Nitrox Diver course.

D. Special Notes
This course may be taught in conjunction with an internationally recognized Open Water course at the discretion of the PSAI Nitrox Instructor.
Deep Diver Course
Guanaja has some of the best deep wall dives in the Bay Islands. These dive sites can start in 10msw/33fsw of water and can go beyond recreational depths. Without proper training, this kind of diving puts you at risk. The PSAI Deep Diving Specialty will give you the ability to safely and comfortably plan and conduct dives beyond 18 m/60ft and is a prerequisite for some advanced training.

You will earn the PSAI Deep Diving Specialty certification after completing this program.

Deep Diver Course Prerequisites

Prerequisites:

A. Age
  1. Minimum age is 18 for participation; however, students between the ages of 12 and 17 inclusive are allowed to participate with written consent from parent or legal guardian.
  2. Minimum age is 16 years for Deep Sport Diver certification. (Students between the ages of 12 and 15 may qualify for a Junior Deep Sport Diver certification that stipulates that they may dive with the permission and direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian, who is at least a Deep Sport Diver. At age 16, they may upgrade to Deep Sport Diver certification.)
B. Prior Certification:
Must be certified as a PSAI Open Water Diver or equivalent.

C. Prior Dive Experience:
Must provide proof of a minimum of ten (10) logged dives.r.
Night Diver Course
Do you think you’ve seen all there is to see at Guanaja’s dive spots? Try checking them out at night. You’re going to find that dive sites don’t really show you everything they have until you explore them when the sun goes down. Guanaja’s reefs are teeming with life during the day but wait until you see them at night.  When the moon comes up its time for a new adventure!
You'll learn how to safely plan and approach a night dive with one of our fun and safe instructors.

Night Diver Course Prerequisites

Prerequisites:

A. Age:
  1. Minimum age is 18 for participation; however, students between the ages of 10 and 17 inclusive are allowed to participate with written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
  2. Minimum age is 15 years for Night Diving Specialty certification. (Students between the ages of 10 and 15 may qualify for a Junior Night Diving Specialty certification that stipulates that they may dive with the permission and direct supervision of a parent or legal guardian. At age 15, they may upgrade to PSAI Night Diving Specialty Diver certification.)
B. Certification:
The student must have a PSAI Open Water Sport Diver certification, or an equivalent Scuba Diving certification, from a recognized training agency. In case of equivalency, the student needs to have logged at least five (5) open water dives during or after his/her initial training.

C. Prior Dive Experience:
None required other than listed above.
Sport Diver DPV Course
DPV’s offer a thrilling way to see a lot of underwater territory in a brief amount of time. They move you through the water without kicking. At Barrier Reef Dive Center, we have lots of reef just off the beach. A DPV may be the way to go.
The course covers diver propulsion vehicle dive planning organisation, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards, diver etiquette and how to avoid harming fragile aquatic life. The PSAI Diver Propulsion Vehicle Diver certification counts toward your Master Diver rating and is run over 3 open water dives with your instructor.

Sport Diver DVP Course Prerequisites

A . Age:
The student shall be at least the age of majority at time of course entry.

B. Certification:
The student shall have graduated from an internationally recognized Open Water Diver course

C. Prior Dive Experience:
The student shall have a minimum of 30 successful logged open water dives prior to entry to this course.
Open Water Sidemount Diver
Open water Sidemount - The liberation of Sidemount diving in terms of feeling free of tanks combined with the independent tank redundancy, larger gas volume, logistically easier to handle than double tanks and the availability of single tanks worldwide have brought the world of Sidemount diving into the open water.

At Barrier Reef Dive Center, we support XDEEP diving equipment. We have STEALTH sidemount harnesses for demo at the dive center.

The open water Sidemount course takes a minimum of three days to complete.
Open water Sidemount diving can be done with two aluminum or steel tanks and gives great redundancy in terms of independent breathing gas supplies.

Special Notes
This course may be taught in conjunction with an internationally recognized Open Water Program at the discretion of the PSAI Open Water Sidemount Instructor.
Open Water Sidemount Diver Course Prerequisites
A. Age:
The student shall be at least the age of majority at time of course entry.

B. Certification:
The student shall have graduated from a minimum of an internationally recognized Open Water course.

C. Prior Dive Experience: The student shall have a minimum of 25 successful logged dives prior to entry to this course.
